Discussed what would be necessary (passport) to get in order for the kids and the adults to enter Canada for the Youth Competition. Fundraising will be done to help raise the extra funds needed for the extra fees involved in the passport /enhanced license to cross the border.
Advertising, JoAnn MacKay:
The TNT is printing the usual ad at this time.
The Footnotes ad has been updated to reflect the change in the Spinners Schedule.
Webmaster, Doug Schafer:
The clubs are encouraged to have a member of each club access their club site and post dances and upcoming events and activities. There will be a menu item added to the website for neighboring councils to add events.
Footnotes Reporter, Mike Bowen:
Blazing Stars sent in a report this month.
Promotion and Float, Steve MacKay:
The map books were made up at a very inexpensive cost. They were 50 books made at $13.00.
Window decals instead of the present bumper stickers were presented for possible promotion later. This would be a more personal approach than the State bumper stickers. They could have club information or council information. Prices are available now.
The Spinners put their dance schedule on business cards. This may be a good idea for other clubs to think about doing.
Puyallup Fair, Carol Thompson, Lynn Red:
Next year Steve MacKay will be the Contact/Facilitator. He will be getting the tickets and information out to the dancers. Carol Thompson and Lynn Red will be focusing on the booth next year.
This year there were 16 people who signed up at the fair. Two people were referred to the CPS Council, two to the Sou„ester Council, four to the Penninsula Council and the rest were given names of clubs in the Rainier Council Area. One was a family that wanted the Sumner area so they were referred to the Rockin‟Teens. Contact was made with these people and some are in lessons now.
Steve MacKay will be checking with the fair officials to try to get out of the Education Building and onto a different stage this year. The length of time that the dancers have available to dance on stage will be discussed also. Some feel an hour is not long enough to set up and dance.
It is important for all callers and dancers to sign up people if they are interested in dancing on a sign up sheet.
Having a poster with a sign up sheet for names and contact information would be useful.
The Senior Center has requested a caller to come teach lessons. This has been arranged.
Plant and Craft Sale, Joyce Sebree: absent
To be continued in the 2010-2011 year
RCCA, Joyce Sebree: absent
Nothing to Report
New Years 2009
The Swinging Squares will be hosting The New Years Eve Dance at the Sumner Valley Dance Center. The theme is the Roaring 20‟. Tom Tomlinson and the Old Time Fiddlers will be calling and Lorraine Rouse will be cueing. A mock of the flyer has been made and will be distributed as soon as all the details are completed. This will be a potluck with the club providing the meat. Please bring a side dish.
2011 State Festival
A pre-registration seedling certificate will be available to all Rainier Council members and current State Federation Officers. This will be $25 prior to June of 2010 festival and then it will go up to $30 after that for registration. The certificate will be the Diamond Celebration of Dancing Certificate.
The outfit may be a basic solid color with white vest or over shirt with logo on it.
The sample of a diamond logo was passed around. Nothing has been decided on yet. Since this is the 60th Annual Washington Convention then the diamond will be part of the theme.
The contracts have been signed and there will be $2630 needed by January 1, 2010.
There will be vendors at the convention.
Dave Pearcy is checking into the flooring.
There are still committees open: Registration, Badge dances, Grand March, Housing, Decorations, and Promotion/Publicity.
The Rockin‟Teens and The Young Bunch will be co- hosting the Trails End Dance at Pete‟
Pool. Details will be discussed at an Executive Board meeting at a later date‟.
